We all get nervous before going on a first date, especially if we have been out of the dating circle for a while, but you don’t have to feel this way.
By incorporating any one of the following confidence building tips, you can regain your self-esteem and experience the satisfaction of arriving on your first date completely at ease within yourself. Give them a try:
1. Forget your former mistakes
All relationships leave a mark, most notably on your confidence levels, but do not let this hinder you from moving on. By wasting your time going over what could have been and what you wished you’d done differently; all this will work to do is bring your confidence down.
Instead, try to sit down and make a list of everything you have learnt from your past relationships – both good and bad. When you are able to see all these points clearly in front of you, you will be able to say with conviction ‘I will not make these mistakes again’ and move on with a clean slate.
2. Take note of your accomplishments
Same as the tip above, take a moment to sit down and list all your accomplishments from the last year. This can include your career, your personal life… anything! Even if is something as little as doing a task independently with no help from your friends or family make a note of it. Remember every achievement you make is special and is worth taking note of, so write it down!
By having all your accomplishments available to read in one place – the pride you will feel from reading this list, will boost your inner confidence and strengthen your self esteem.
3. Feel good about your body
It cannot be denied that when you look good, you feel good too. Everything takes on a new vibrancy and your confidence levels soar. So if you are feeling self conscious about your weight or your appearance, first of all take a step away from all this negativity and make the decision to change.
If for example you would like to lose a few excess lbs off your stomach, try changing your eating habits and following a healthier, more nutritious diet. By simply taking charge of your weight loss, you can experience the satisfaction of naturally losing weight and fitting into clothes that you previously never thought possible with ease.
It is incredible how much of a difference this simple decision can make to your confidence levels.
4. Have fun
It is only natural to want to make a good impression on your prospective date, but with time these pressures can mount up and dent your confidence.
The key is to relax and remember that there are plenty of more fish in the sea. By taking the pressure from off of yourself and entering the date with no expectations, you’ll be able to convey to your date the REAL you – confident, attractive and demeanour.
Plus with all expectations gone, you can save on disappointment and take the time to judge whether your date truly is the right person for you.
5. Break free
One of the best ways for improving your dating confidence, is to break free from your comfort zone. If you are a naturally shy person, try experimenting with new exciting hobbies and challenges, and make your routine a thing of the past.
By taking these risks and experiencing success, this increased trust in your ability to act independently will soon feed into your confidence, and leave you feeling like a new person.
