Eating Out

Eating at a pub or resturant shouldn’t feel like you are turning your back on all your hard work and nor should it feel like you are not able to have a good meal out. There are always healthier options and you’d be surprised how much waiters and waitresses will help you out if you’re not sure what to have whilst watching those calories.

I’ve had my Mom in law over for the past week and we’ve been doing a lot of eating out as she’s not stayed for long and we only get to see her once a year. So we’ve been dining out most nights.

I admit, I’ve not exactly been an angel myself. I’ve eaten too much of the wrong thing really…and I’m not proud of it. But I have been watching what I eat to a certain extent. For example, having a kids meal at Burger King as it’s smaller portions, having chicken over beef, having a good protion of salad with your meal and making sure you eat that after ever bite of anything else to help fill up on the good stuff!

Tonight is the last evening we have with Mom so we are popping over to Harvester for dinner. If you haven’t been there, they have a super salad bar where you can help yourself to as much as you like! Now, I know it isn’t as exciting as your favourite pizza or burger and chips, but it honestly can be! Don’t have salad just for having it because you feel you have to, to keep the calories down. Pick the bits of salad you LIKE! Not every likes everything but I’m sure there’s plenty of fresh veg you can choose from that you’ll actually enjoy! :-)

With summer (sort of) here, take advantage and treat yourself to more fresh, crisp fruit and vegetables and make yourself feel better for the nicer weather!
